Abstract:The rise of modern literary studies in the Qing Dynasty has nothing to do with the conflicts between “meaning” and “events” of “Year”. Under the academic atmosphere of “things” and seeking “rights” in Qianlong and Jiaqing, Zhuangcun and proposed that “Year” are not a history of records”, and believed that the books in “Year” were all “conventional texts to show meaning”, which was that “no book” was more important than “books”; Kong Guangsen proposed that “Year” emphasizes meaning but not things”, and believed that Confucius’ “Year” was written because of history, but often gave new meanings. Although Zhuang and Kong said it seriously, they may not be able to be seen as modern literature scholars after Jia and Dao. However, this kind of problem-oriented concept of “meaning” but not “things” has actually been a sacred view of modern literature in the Qing Dynasty.
